Blog Post 5# Technology

I had a great time learning about my classmate's presentations. They were all very interesting and I learned things that I had yet to learn before. One presentation specifically that caught my attention was about the Carrier Pigeons! In the 21st century, technology has evolved on so many levels that back then I'm sure they would have never dreamed of how advanced it got. Nowadays, there are AI, deep fakes, Virtual realities, and much more than back then was something that would probably be considered impossible to exist.

Pigeons have been used for communication purposes for thousands of years, with historical records dating all the way back to ancient civilizations such as Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. They have served as a form of communication that would travel long distances and for this reason, they played an imperative part in communication through cities and cultures. Since then communication has evolved so much that while it was common to have a pigeon flying around delivering messages, now it is as simple as pressing the "send" button.

One thing that I had no idea about before this presentation was how pigeons were used in war to carry messages. This gave them an important task in war, which was carrying the message from the lines back to their home coop. I also learned that carrier pigeons were used way back around the 14th century. I also found it very interesting that pigeons have some type of internal compass, which guides them to always be able to find their home.

These were only a few among many other things from the presentations that caught my attention. They all had something great to share and which was very interesting, like Twitter, Facebook and internet.
